To want to start Tretinol or Retinoids (currently using retinol)

Retinol 1% has been a game changer for my skin. I’ve been using it for just over 3 months. Does anyone here use prescription grade stuff?

Tretinol or retinoids ? I turned 42 last month. My major issues are fine lines on my forehead, under eyes and around the mouth.

Tretinoin is just the generic name for the prescription-strength retinoid sold as Retin-A, Retirides, etc. I’ve used it on and off for years and it does make a huge difference.

How/when did you transition from retinol to prescription grade stuff?

I used otc retinol for a bit without much of an effect and then started tretinoin maybe 4 years ago on and off. Your skin flakes a lot when you start but as long as you use a good moisturiser it’s fine. Some people do the sandwich method of applying moisturiser, then tretinoin, and then more moisturiser overtop. It’s also recommended to start with a lower strength cream and with your way up.

I didn’t bother with any of this and started on 1% and it was fine.

So if it's prescription strength, how do you go about getting a prescription ofr it?
