Feeling rubbish with tonsilitis, sad that it’s Easter and I’m not enjoying Easter eggs! I’m trying to rest because feeling pretty tired, taking difflam, on antibiotics, when should it start to clear?

I was just going to suggest difflam. Try some paracetamol to help with the pain. I hope you soon feel better

4 days. Rest and lots of fluids

Once upon a time after suffering from repeated recurrent tonsillitis in desperation I got a butter knife and used the tip to scrape the white patches of infection off the back of my throat and tonsils. It obviously hurt MASSIVELY but next morning I was absolutely fine. Whether this was just luck I have no idea. I am medical, but colleagues at work were horrified. I've never been brave enough to try it again since.

Couple of drops of tea tree in water and gargle?

MyLadyTheKingsMother · 31/03/2024 12:56

Gargle with diluted tcp

HundredMilesAnHour · 31/03/2024 12:57

Gargle with salty water morning and evening.

Iamacatslave · 31/03/2024 12:58

Gargle with soluble aspirin.

If it's white and blobby as opposed to streaky bacon in my experience that means bacterial which means antibiotics are fastest way to feel better. Obv on a bank holiday that's almost impossible to sort but there are sometimes private GPs you can pay to see although obv that's not ideal.
