Can a non diy-er retile a hearth?

We have an ugly 70s fireplace. I plan to white wash the ugly stone and retile the brown stone hearth.

I have never even attempted to paint as I have no faith in my ability.

Is it doable iyo?

Or should I just paint it a navy blue or something?

It’s the cuts that are tricky. The rest is very simple.

I dare say there will be videos on tinternet that show how this is done.
