Parcel collection window too short

I ordered something from vinted and had it delivered to an inpost collection lockerin a supermarket in town as I would be passing by a couple of times over the next week. I got a text Friday midday to say it had arrived but I have until Monday to collect or it gets returned to sender. The problem is I'm working all weekend (10am-10pm) and can't get there until Tuesday morning. Plus the supermarket is shut for easter Sunday so I wouldn't be able to collect even if I was free.
My issue is the 3 day limit wasn't mentioned anywhere when I chose that delivery option, otherwise I wouldnt have chosen it, I've used Evri parcel collection before and that gives you 10 days.
Customer service have said there's nothing they can do, the parcel won't be there anymore when I get there on Tuesday.
AIBU to think this is a bit crap given that there isn't any mention of having 3 days to collect at the point of choosing the service, and that it is also limited by bank holidays?

(Just to add I'm sure the time limit is to keep good availability of the lockers, which isn't an issue, but it hadn't been communicated)

Hi OP, I’ve voted YABU purely because that is just the standard for using InPost Lockers, it’s always 3 days from arrival at which point it is returned to sender, so knowing that you had limits this weekend that info is easily & readily available online

It is. But the lockers have always had a super short timeframe to pick them up in

CatCatCatCatCatCat · 30/03/2024 16:28

Could be worse, I ordered a parcel click and collect to my local store and they refused it so it was sent straight back! Never do click and collect again.

Are the lockers definitely inside the supermarket? I use InPost a lot and every single one I have ever used has been outside the building it is located at, so that you can access them 24/7 even if the business itself is shut.

My closest InPost locker is on the side of a shop that is 5 mins walk from my house - the shop is only open 9-5 Monday to Friday but I often stop off to collect my parcel at 9:30pm on my way home from work or on Sunday mornings when I'm off

I would assume the lockers are outside of the supermarket as this is usually the case, therefore you can pick up before or after work. Are you sure they are inside?

Tired75683 · 30/03/2024 16:39

I had no idea about the time frame, I've checked since on the app and all it says for each delivery option is 'at locker in 3-4 days' no mention of how long to collect etc, I suppose the 3 days itself isn't the issue rather not being told before I paid for it.
The timing also depends on when the seller sends it, they've got 5 days to post it so can't predict exactly when it would need collecting. I was at the shop the day before it arrived and will be again on Tuesday so I didn't anticipate collecting being an issue. Obviously now I know I won't choose this option again, but it doesn't help my parcel going to waste

You might be lucky if you go early on Tuesday it might not have been returned yet. This has been the case for me in the past.

saraclara · 30/03/2024 16:41

Another one who's never seen an inpost locker inside the supermarket. That would undermine the whole point of the lockersas they're supposed to be accessible 24/7

Twilightstarbright · 30/03/2024 16:43

The locker will be outside the supermarket. I go to mine in the local Tesco at all hours and it’s just there in the car park.

YouAndMeAndThem · 30/03/2024 16:43

There are only a finite number of lockers so they can't have a long collection time as it would be full all the time! I guess it would be outside of the shop too, they usually are. I'd probably try and get there before working tomorrow if I were you.
