AIBU to consider just going with MoreThan's arranged replacement car insurer?

I have searched here and found threads from August 2023 referring to the 21-23 day before renewal sweetspot for shopping around, but it has already passed. Our renewal date is a week or so away.

I also saw comments about how there is no longer a big difference (or any) in offers to new customers vs. offers to existing customers.

So I am seriously considering just phoning the company that MoreThan passed their customers to and, if they can give a reasonable discount on their quote the way MoreThan used to, then just going with them.

I will shop around if they won't budge but would accept on the spot if they do.

I'm asking if anyone here is aware of things about the new company (Swinton), or about how transfers have been handled, that should put me off.

I'm also interested in any experience of claiming on Swinton car insurance or needing to use their breakdown assistance.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I also meant to ask about the £40 Swinton "service charge". Is it normal to pay some form of admin fee on changing insurers?
