Updating my lounge

This is not aibu but could I ask how you've decorated your lounges? We've had beige carpet & warm beige curtains & a neutral tone for some time. It's worked but now I'm bored. I love all the new vibrant wallpapers but I don't want to invest in new curtains & carpet until I absolutely have to. It's so wasteful.
I'm really lost on how to jazz it up & move away from that look. Also got to have new sofa & seats. We've had a matching leather three piece for years. I don't even know what colour sofa to choose or even to go for fabric next time. I'm looking for a warm, cosy but with a hint of glamour, just a gorgeous look I suppose.
Or should I just go the whole hog & have new curtains & carpet too? I've looked at a lot of photos on the Internet & it's not really helped.
Tia for your inspiring ideas.

Ours probably wouldn't be to everyone's taste! But basically I find something I love, a picture, a vase, a rug - anything really, and I use that as the basis for my colour scheme. You could keep the basics very neutral and jazz the room up with accessories in colours chosen from that item, or you could go the whole hog and choose walls, floor and curtains from that item as well.

I have a glorious (and very old) Famille Rose Chinese plate decorated with butterflies and blossom. The base colour is a bluish-green and the butterflies are all sorts of jewel colours, with the flowers mainly in rose pink with some gold accents. So my walls and curtains are duck egg, one of my sofas is dusty pink, an accent chair is duck egg, my cushions are raspberry, duck egg and gold, I have light wood effect floors with a large Indian rug in duck egg and a pinkish brown, and I have Chinese silk paintings of rose pink peonies in gold frames. I like it.
