What a time someone has totally taken the piss?

Has anyone ever totally taken the piss out of you? When you've offered an inch and they've taken a mile?

I have an instance, what do you reckon to this, it happened about 5 years ago and me and my sister are good so it's a non-issue now but it's still crazy.

for context my sister was in what turned out to be an abusive relationship at the time (he was a knob but we didn't know abusive at the time) anyway, my sister (18) had a baby and when her daughter was 5 days old she asked if I could look after her for a few hours whilst she drove her partner to his place of work, he was in the army so his barracks, I agreed but I also had her other daughter (3) and my own son (3) she left at 6am and said she would be home by 9am.. 9am rolled around and she didn't return, around 11am the door knocked, it was the midwife. She had forgotten the midwife was coming, so I explained the situation to the midwife and she said that she would do the checks she needed to do but she'd have to go away see if she could get over the phone permission from my sister to do the heel prick test and come back later on.

So she did that and at 4pm midwife came back and did her heel prick test. All the while and calling and texting my sister asking when she was coming back, she was saying there was an issue with the seargent and he wouldn't let them off the barracks. Anyway, long story short she came back at 7pm the next day 37hours after she left, I hadn't slept a wink because I was left with a 5 day old baby I was terrified she'd stop breathing on my watch.

The minute she walked in the door I put her baby in her arms and left with my son I was fuming. Fast forward to a year later. I was helping her clean out her room after their breakup and I find a plaque with the name of a seaside town on it, and I say oh when did you go here.. a guilty smile spread across her face and she admitted that the day she left me with 2 toddlers and a newborn for 37 hours they actually went away to the seaside for the night. Needless to say I didn't see the funny side of that at all.

Blimey Op, i hope shes grown up since then.

I've had a lot of pisstaking in my early years before i found some self esteem, mainly involving money. The wallet stays shut now.

She has thankfully!

She had a 3 year old already at 18, and then another baby?
So she had her first child at 15, potentially getting pregnant at 14? Was the father prosecuted for rape of a minor or was he a minor too?
There's a lot of backstory here, to put it mildly.

I wouldn't see that primarily as 'taking the piss'. I would see it as a disturbing instance of someone who was a very young parent (if she was 18 with a newborn and a 3 year old -- did she have a baby at 15?) who exhibited very distorted, poor judgement and was likely in thrall to her partner. I'd have called the police, I think, or flagged it with the midwife as of concern.

I got the age wrong, she had her first baby at 16 almost 17, and the second almost exactly 3 years later so she was 19 almost 20. He was the same age

How old were you at the time OP?

I loaned a friend my favourite pair of earrings for a special event she was going to. She lost one and grinned, no apology.

Whattodo12345help · 29/03/2024 17:46

But yes I agree the whole situation was a total mess, they fought constantly, he wanted to marry her and move her to his barracks which we begged her not to do because he was awful and we could see he was just wanting to isolate her, but they split up because of his outrageous amount of cheating and she grew up overnight. She's in her mid 20's now and great mum to her two girls

I'm 4 and a half years older so I'd have been 24

Yeah, that's a total pisstake.
Mine isn't quite as bad, but it still instils a bit of rage in me over 20 years later.
I babysat regularly for a woman on the same street as me who had four kids under the age of six. I was 14 at the time.
One day she asked me to babysit for a "couple of hours at most" because she needed to go to the shops.
Thirteen hours later, she returned. And presented me with the princely sum of £13 for my time. She lost a patient (and total pushover) of a babysitter that day.

Too many to count. I must have use me tattooed on my forehead. I once bought a new dress. I let my friend borrow it, she knew it was new and kept it, never gave it back. I'd ask for it and she'd change the subject. Thankfully no longer friends with her. God she was a total dick and I was too young to see it (early 20s). The same person said she was coming to my wedding and never showed, no apology. That was the end for me. I'm much better now at not letting anyone take the piss. I would say I'm 40 and friendless (but very happy) with zero fuss or piss takers.
