AIBU?

To not wash my hair before a head massage?

I have one later today. My hair is greasy and needs a wash (last washed it on Monday) but also conscious it will probably need washing after as well with all the oils they use.
Should I wash it beforehand to be polite too or do they really not care? I have long, thick hair so it's a bit of an ordeal 😂

If it's greasy then yes I'd wash it

I wouldn't go for a head massage with greasy, unwashed hair.

Nor would I want to touch someone else's.

Nah I wouldn’t, mine is thick and long and an ordeal to wash too.
Could you grab a dry shampoo spray thing so it doesn’t look so greasy maybe?

I wouldn’t as you’ll need to wash it after anyway due to oils etc

Omg wash it. Poor masseuse.

You haven't washed it since Monday! I would not dream of expecting some one to do a head massage on hair that dirty, that's really not pleasant.

Dry shampoo it if it's an ordeal. 😃

Is it an ordeal really? Just shampoo it and do it again later. It’s not nice to expect someone to put their hands in your unwashed hair. You brush teeth before dentist. It’s like that. It’s about showing respect to the person looking after you in my opinion.

Just give it a quick single wash and blast dry and wash and dry properly after the massage.

I do think it's a bit grim to go with 5 day old greasy hair.

Give it a quick wash and blow dry, you will feel better and more comfortable getting the massage. If you have no plans after the massage I wouldn't wash your hair, let the oils do their work.

Mine hasn’t been washed since last Saturday. Not everyone has the same type of hair you know 🙄

The OP has described her hair as greasy and in need of a wash.

She's not talking about your hair. Or hair in general. She's responding to the OP.

I have head massages quite often.

I wash my hair every other day. It is a little greasy on the second day. Like needs tied up.

I've gone for a massage on that day, but that would be my absolute limit.

You’ve not washed your hair since Monday but you are expecting someone to put their hands in it. That’s nasty.

Wash your hair. FFS.

Of course you wash your hair!

Beauty therapists etc are very professional and generally won't say anything unless you have nits or some sort of skin infection but it's gross for them and they will judge dirty clients.

I think it's really disrespectful to go in with greasy and dirty hair.

Just be aware that if you use too much dry shampoo, that mixed with the massage oil will turn into a white paste!!

I can't believe you'd consider not washing it first if you haven't washed it since Monday. Be respectful.
