New Taskmaster: Is Robins the new Herring ?

Watching the new season of taskmaster. Having now researched all contestants I hadn't heard of, it seems early on that John Robins' competitive nature may stop him being that funny... a bit like Richard "champion of champions" Herring. Hope I am wrong. Just getting annoying vibes from him. Anyone else ?

I'm a Robins fan- but I've always hoped he wouldn't go on Taskmaster. He's a fatal combination of vulnerable and competitive. I suspect that's why he hasn't been offered it before.

Interesting. I don't know his work very well apart from some Youtubing pre taskmaster and I caught a bit of him reporting traffic and travel on 5live. Despite that I could instantly see how competitive he is and how nervous he was. Hopefully he will settle into it more and do a bit more comedy ! Pemberton in contrast I loved !

I was so bored with tonight’s show. It’s got very stale.

I can see that. Some of the early seasons were electric. One of the problems is its so well known now that contestants might overthink tasks / try to emulate previous contestants. Early days in this new one though. There's no "alpha" contestant to rile everyone up is one observation. Friction is funny !
