To change my GP?

I have been having UTI/thrush symptoms since the end of last year following a smear test. My GP did repeat swabs and urine tests, different results including leukocytes, yeast and pus. Always told nothing wrong. I kept going back. She just kept telling me to take boric acid and vaginal probiotics. I tried both and it did nothing.

I spent £££ on over the counter thrush treatments, some of which got rid of symptoms and then they returned. In the end I was desperate, I was in so much discomfort I went to a walk in for UTI antibiotics, which lo and behold has pretty much cleared it.

I went back to my GP to explain this and ask for another course of antibiotics or fluconazole as I feel like its 95% gone so want to treat the remaining 5% and was so worried about it coming back. She said I needed to do another swab. No prescription.

I’ve just had a call to say the results are negative again and she thinks my current symptoms are because my unauthorised antibiotics have upset my ph balance so… I need to take boric acid and probiotics.

I am fuming. The only reason I am now nearly back to normal is because I went to get antibiotics which she has refused the whole time to give me. I have been in agony for months and all she did was tell me to buy the expensive probiotics from the chemist downstairs, even though she knew they weren’t working.

I want to call up and ask to switch to a different doctor as my regular GP but I’ve never done this before, will they likely say yes or will it cause me issues?

Last time I changed about 6 years ago I just called at reception and they changed it there and then to another doctor.

I just phoned and did it, much less stressful than I imagined. I have to wait a few weeks until I can get in to see my new dr but I already feel hopeful they will listen to me more.
