Can’t tolerate alcohol anymore??

Louu247 · 26/03/2024 08:17

So I had symptoms which let me to get an ultrasound and found a pollop on my gallbladder, I’m due to get this removed, since then I just can’t tolerate alcohol anymore? I had a couple of glasses of wine on Friday night and still feeling the effects now! Does this get any better once it’s removed? Or do I need to cut out alcohol all together?

has anyone ever just not been able to tolerate it anymore?

I have as well, I used to know how much I can tolerate but can’t seem to tolerate any anymore, it’s awful! Think my days of chilling with a glass or 2 on a night time are over! 😂

Since menopause I can't really tolerate wine. Just feel awful the whole next day after only 1 glass sometimes. Bit better with spirits and a mixer!

Mrsjayy · 26/03/2024 08:28

I was thinking the same although I'm in my 50s and apparently that's when alcohol tolerance depletes, I felt properly hungover.

ChanelNo19EDT · 26/03/2024 08:29

I'm the same, had polyps too (not gall bladder). I just drink a really ladylike amount when I'm out now, and even two glasses, watered down, with food, and followed up by litres of water later can make me feel off the next day. I used to love a drink! Another pleasure gone 🙂
Ach, I joke, health is valuable. I'm listening to my body.

I will be glad to get it removed but I’ve heard once that’s removed it’s even worse!!

Have you got a date for an operation?

user1498572889 · 26/03/2024 08:37

I had my gallbladder removed in 2012. Since then 1 drink has left me feeling really rough and drunk. I now only drink soft drinks. I dont miss alcohol at all.

maddening · 26/03/2024 08:47

I had gall bladder issues and no probs with alcohol- and have had it removed and also no probs with alcohol- I don't drink regularly though, just special occasions (although this month I am having 3 special occasions! Which is unusual)

Ah that’s good you can still tolerate it! I used to enjoy it but don’t think I can anymore 😫 but never mind health is more important!!

I had gallbladder problems and had to stop drinking totally. After it was out it took me a while to get back into itGrin

Lost my tolerance for alcohol in my late 30s. Hangovers had always been awful but symptoms would start on the night out, and/or I’d be totally insensible after only a couple of drinks.

Now don’t drink at all, just not worth it.

I’ve often wondered if there’s a cause behind it but with the NHS so stretched there’s not much interest into looking into something I can manage by not drinking.

Can't tolerate it since I've had long covid. Annoyingly, spend many days feeling like I've been out on the lash when don't even drink now! Good luck with your operation.

Petal12 · 26/03/2024 09:01

I’ve had my gall bladder removed but started to not tolerate it before that. Got to the point where I was feeling ill (like a cold) after the first couple of sips - however I was a gin drinker and I have since read/been told that there are often botanics I think it was in gin/with gin which can cause that sort of stuffiness. I don’t touch a drop of anything now as it makes me feel so rough, during and after - I don’t miss it very often but sometimes miss the chilled feeling of that first drink taking effect!

Yes! I love nothing more when the kids are in bed just chilling and having a couple of glasses! Will have to resort to a cup of tea instead 😂
