Winning a bid on council house. Not heard back since

Posting here as usually when I post on the property/diy or talk, I don't get any replies. Hoping to get more here

I applied based on my medical needs, thankfully won a bid about 3 weeks ago and was offered the place. However accepting the offer can only happen in person at the viewing. They said i'd hear back in 2 weeks regarding progress with the repairs etc, but no one's been in touch. Tried to ring Council but no one picks up. If you have been in the same position, how long did you wait? I know it differs but just after your experiences please

I've not been in the same position personally but was by my DMs side when she won a bid. It was confirmed on the Phone by the Council she had won, we didn't hear a thing for over a fortnight but continued to call - we were always told not to worry as she definitely had it. Apparently there's various checks that need to be done before it's handed over, there may also still be a current Tenant in there which obviously needs to moved along first. Maintenance needs to be carried out etc. etc.
DM didn't get any Paperwork or have a proper viewing until the day she got the Keys! She then had to 'accept' the property by signing a contract, keys were handed over and off the council went. All took about a 6 Weeks.

Thank you @Strawberryicecreamz for your reply. That has certainly reassured me. It does feel strange but I guess due to the nature of how it works, it's normal to not hear back until the very end. Thanks once again
