You had a full week to yourself where zero jobs needed doing. Not even the washing up.

But your disposable income after all bills, foods, outgoings, kids' stuff etc was paid for, remained the same as it is now- so this isn't a limitless activities question.

You've had enough sleep that you don't need to sleep the week away.

Just what would you do with yourself? What do you long to have time to indulge in, focus on etc? Other people- your kids, family, friends- can be a part of those plans, or you can be completely solo.

I guess, rather than a 'what do you need right now?' question, this is a 'what do you want right now?' question.

(Just for fun :D )

TikTok.

A Wikipedia deep dive.

A long walk.

A museum/gallery.

Catching up with an old friend for a boozy lunch.

Watch Gone with the wind again. Or another film on my to watch list.

Hermittrismegistus · 25/03/2024 00:26

From experience I just end up sobbing around watching Netflix and ordering lunch on deliveroo for the week.

Manyandyoucanwalkover · 25/03/2024 00:29

I’d read from the pile of books I have waiting.
I would listen to all my favourite pieces of music.
I would go for lots of long country walks.

sunights · 25/03/2024 00:32

Reading.

Time on my allotment.

Organising my book shelf.

Reviewing old journals.

Time to myself.

Hermittrismegistus · 25/03/2024 00:36

Slobbing* not sobbing Confused

Hagpie · 25/03/2024 00:36

I’d spend the week in my dressing gown watching cartoons with the kids guilt-free.

What I need is a shorter to-do list! Might start making content for TikTok too.

Depending on weather -

If rainy and bleugh: film day - all the films I would like to watch with yummy almond croissant and coffee and ice cream in afternoon ,maybe a glass of wine or two in evening

Followed by a day with books back to back

If cold but not rainy: lovely long walk - perhaps through bluebells , if along the beach - pub lunch in middle of a day plant shopping and gardening

If spring sunshine: visit to a lovely garden/NT house or to a small town with good independent shops and good place for lunch

If very sunny - books and rose outside !

BeaLola · 25/03/2024 01:11

In addition to above -

Make arrangement to meet friends for lunch or cocktails and dinner

Day out to London museum /gallery with a little bit of shopping

Facial and nails done as a treat

Maybe a one day taster course

I've just ordered a French novel I started reading nearly a decade ago after I sacked in my French degree because the literature wasn't as interesting as the book I'd found. I've since moved onto different languages and my French isn't as good as it was then, but I've wanted to read it for so long.

After reading some of these answers, I've decided to give myself some time to read through it and try to understand it properly. I also got a 3 month free trial of prime when I ordered it, so I'll go back over some old series I really loved.

I don't have a week of no jobs to do, but I'm trying to carve out bits of time to do just things I love, for no reason.

This week?
Take them to the seaside.
It will be cold but it's worth it.

In a usual school week..
Lots of sleep and reading.
Or I might motivate myself to decorate the bathroom.

Money doesn't create much here.
And I don't have a lot!
It's time that's important.
Off work/off school.

Catsmere · 25/03/2024 01:54

"No jobs" would mean my cats were staying somewhere else, so I might do the longer drives I've never tried, to Ballarat or Bendigo for instance. I'm home all the time anyway, and they're my only responsibility now.

I’ve been told I’m quite funny so probably sharing some mum/day in the life stuff. Mostly I have a list of stuff and hobbies I want to try and I’m not afraid of looking silly. I’ve had a really hard time lately but I’m quite good at making other people feel good? I dunno.

All the videos I ghost-wrote for my DH on his, got the most views so it might be fun.

Cocteautriplet · 25/03/2024 13:52

I’d do at least 30 mins of exercise a day without having to watch the clock.
I’d also use the week to start eating really healthily / food prepping ahead so I could start losing weight without the derailing effect of daily stress.

I’d do a big declutter a la ‘Sort your life out’. I know you said ‘no jobs’ but this wouldn’t feel like work for me and would be really cathartic.. I often fantasise that time stands still for a few months for everyone except me allowing me to get all the Marie Kindoing/ diy done that I never get time for ordinarily.

I would spend it as though I was on a wellness break. So I'd have in or cook ahead the best and healthiest meals I could, and spend the days on long walks in green spaces, doing yoga and reading 'improving' things while wearing a white dressing gown. I'd set myself a schedule so that I moved from one activity to another, and I'd print the days activities on a silver edged card and prop it on a tray with my green tea and single bud in a vase, and serve it to myself each morning.
