I don't know what 3in1 means...

I'm a fully functioning adult.
I cannot for the life of me find out what '3in1' means in relation to Persil non bio. What exactly are the 3?

Does it mean it includes fabric softener? If not, then what is included? And why doesn't it say so anywhere on the bloody packaging?!

Someone put me out of my misery please 🙏

Pre wash, main wash, conditioner? Just guessing though.

isthismylifenow · 24/03/2024 14:49

My guess is prewash, normal wash and fabric conditioner.

Perhaps the conditioner dissolves slower?

QueenOfTheEntireFuckingUniverse · 24/03/2024 14:49

I'd guess wash, stain remover and fabric conditioner

BoohooWoohoo · 24/03/2024 14:49

I think detergent, softener, stain remover

FictionalCharacter · 24/03/2024 14:56

It means they’re trying to con you into believing it’s somehow better than others! Look at the ingredients. They’re the same in all washing powders. Detergents, stuff to help it dissolve, perfume, optical brighteners in some, enzymes if it’s bio.

magicmole · 24/03/2024 14:57

According to Persil's website "Persil 3 in 1 Bio Washing Capsules provide 7 days of freshness that lasts with outstanding stain removal even in cold washes with a powerful clean 1st time".

I'm none the wiser really but I think the "three" are meant to be detergent, stain remover plus either softener/conditioner or something that means the newly-done laundry smell lasts for several days.

It just sounds like particularly bad marketing guff to me.

soupfiend · 24/03/2024 14:57

Probably water softner as that is always in washing powder/liquid which means you musnt fall for the Calgon adverts

CaptainCarrot · 24/03/2024 14:57

I thought this thread was going to be about the holy trinity.

Changeandagoodrest · 24/03/2024 14:58

@CaptainCarrot i thought it was about a chipper

DameCelia · 24/03/2024 14:58

Oh me too @CaptainCarrot , me too.

dementedpixie · 24/03/2024 14:58

They don't contain softener so I'd say it cleans, removes stains and adds fragrance

toomanyy · 24/03/2024 15:00

I hope they don’t have softener, hate the stuff.

Must check the similar Tesco 3-in-1s in the cupboard.

JanglingJack · 24/03/2024 15:00

QueenOfTheEntireFuckingUniverse · 24/03/2024 14:49

I'd guess wash, stain remover and fabric conditioner

This, seeing as they are bigging up the stain remover.

mumofds's · 24/03/2024 15:00

I've always just assumed it's washing liquid stain remover and fabric softener..

dementedpixie · 24/03/2024 15:00

The only one that tends to have softener added is bold. The others dont

dementedpixie · 24/03/2024 15:03

@toomanyy tesco 3 in 1 seems to say Cleans. Brightens. Removes Stains. No mention of softener

JanglingJack · 24/03/2024 15:03

This reminds me of when Dove bodywash came out with those scrunchy things... Over 80 uses it said.

I started adding up - fingers, toes, belly, boobs, bum, legs, other legs and couldn't get to 80.

80 washes apparently 🙄😂

Changeandagoodrest · 24/03/2024 14:58

@CaptainCarrot i thought it was about a chipper

My first thought was a Chinese takeaway 3-in-1, chips, rice, curry sauce 😋

toomanyy · 24/03/2024 15:04

dementedpixie · 24/03/2024 15:03

Thank you! 😊

TheMarzipanDildo · 24/03/2024 15:05

It’s all marketing bollocks anyway I reckon.

How is ‘removes stains’ different from ‘cleans’?

I don’t believe any washing product ‘brightens’ either. (I suppose a good bleach might, on whites.)

So my new marketing claim is “Superb 1-in-1 clothes washing”.

ThirtyThrillionThreeTrees · 24/03/2024 15:20

BOLD is cleans, freshens and softens.

I only know because it's on the box. It's a whole load of nonsense - before 3 n 1 becme a slogan, washing powder still cleaned, refreshed and softened!

Now if it did something radical like self iron, it would be worth shouting about but whether it's just 1 or 3 or 4 n 1, it's not unreasonable to expect it to clean, freshen and soften. Now one would buy cleans, stinks and hardens.

PinkDesk · 24/03/2024 15:25

Sorry I know this is disappointing for those hoping for curry & chips 😂.

Bold actually states what the 3 in 1 is.

Other than that, I've just spent an unusual amount of time in the cleaning aisle and I'm still none the wiser.

I'm going to assume no softener is included and it's actually just 3 different types of cleaning claims.

For those of you who think it does have softener in... if you don't add extra softener, how are your clothes? ... Soft or crunchy?

Again, sorry for the excitement levels of laundry

I don't know what 3in1 means...

I use fairy pods (got a great deal in tesco a while ago!) and never use softener - my clothes feel just fine! (probs better than when using it tbh - no build up!)

RomainesToBeSeen · 24/03/2024 15:50

I use Bold 3in1 and then add fabric conditioner. 😂😂😂

I'm a Marketeer's dream.
