To dislike staying in during the day

We’ve been for a lovely breakfast this morning and popped to the supermarket for some lunch stuff for the week. We have now returned home and I am bored! We don’t have a huge house so maybe that’s why. I don’t want to watch TV, I’ve done all the cleaning, finished the last of my book…. bored! Is anyone else this way?

It’s sunny here. If the weather is nice where you are go for a walk and enjoy the weather😎

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 24/03/2024 12:07

My Nan always used to say "only boring people get bored"

I'm never bored, even in the house there is always something to do.

MaloneMeadow · 24/03/2024 13:44

YANBU. I hate days like that and really don’t like to be home during the day, no matter how much I have to do. Always prefer to be out and doing things!

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 24/03/2024 13:45

Yep hate being at home, I put it down to a small house. Mentally I just feel better being out.

What an insulting statement. Some of us just don’t like being inside 4 walls and that’s fine. I prefer to be out in the real world

Lifebeganat50 · 24/03/2024 13:47

I don’t think it’s house size…mine is quite large but I feel the same as you-I don’t like feeling hemmed in

benefitstaxcredithelp · 24/03/2024 14:43

I can sometimes feel this way but I believe we are all so conditioned in our society to be ‘doing’ and occupied that we struggle to just ‘be’. We struggle with the feeling of being bored and with just sitting with our own inner landscape. I say this as someone who struggles with it. I am slowly learning though to just sit and just be and be ok with the discomfort of that.

Vettrianofan · 24/03/2024 14:46

I love getting outdoors especially in lovely weather. Already been out for one hour this morning. Park.

I feel unwell if I can't get outdoors at least once a day.

dudsville · 24/03/2024 14:47

I used to fee this way at my old place. It was in a vibrant city, and the house was poorly constructed so being in felt like being out. I just didn't like it. Since moving to a dull small town where my home is quier and I can collect my thoughts I find I have a lot of hobbies.

Haydenn · 24/03/2024 14:54

Well go out then 🤷🏻‍♀️

EasterBunnny · 24/03/2024 14:55

I never stay in between 2-4pm on the weekend, I hate it.

Well, it’s quite insulting to suggest I’m not in the real world because I’m indoors at present.

BringBackTeletext · 24/03/2024 15:01

I think Lockdown is to blame.

NC03 · 24/03/2024 15:03

I love being at home. Figure I pay a lot of money for it and to make it comfortable so I should enjoy being in it!

Mairzydotes · 24/03/2024 15:18

I only like staying in if I've got the house to myself. Otherwise, I like to pop out , even if it's just for a short while.

fussychica · 24/03/2024 15:49

I like to get out most days if the weather is OK but I don't mind being in if its not or for the rest of the day if I've been out in the morning. I never watch daytime TV( I watch enough in the evening) so it's reading books or newspapers if I don't have any chores to do.
The weather has been so wet and miserable this winter I have found it quite hard to get motivated to get out and about.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 24/03/2024 15:50

I know what you mean OP I just went out and did a bit of gardening and feel SO much better!

Onceuponatimeiwasahoe · 24/03/2024 15:50

Have a glass of wine in the garden and watch something on YouTube

LadyKenya · 24/03/2024 15:53

Do you have a garden? If it is not too cold, and gets a bit of sun, utilize it.

MenoBabe · 24/03/2024 16:12

I am happy at home once I get out every day for a few hours at least. But I get very restless if I just stay at home.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 24/03/2024 16:17

I have moderate disability, live alone and don't work
I live close to the town centre and go out everyday otherwise I'd seize up
I'm home otherwise in a tiny flat

Imthefairyonthetree · 24/03/2024 16:22

I used to feel like like that. I don’t anymore. I feel I need a day or so to to distress and get over the week and prepare for the week ahead. I usually have one of my days off where I get up and other about sound housey things then like to relax and watch a movie or read. If I’ve nothing to do I’ll attempt to crotchet or knit. I’d watch home/garden DIY on TikTok or insta. I love being at home. Don’t get me wrong I do love to be out too but I think I’ve got a nice balance now.

I know you sit like tv but podcasts? A magazine remember those! Get a kindle so you can instantly get a new book. Hope you feel a bit better about this soon xx

Really? Calling people who don’t enjoy staying home at day boring isn’t insulting? Your house is a secluded space in which you can escape and ignore everything else happening outside of it. It is not the real world.

TammyJones · 24/03/2024 16:39

I always feel better for getting out for a walk.
If on the rare occasion I don't get out the next day I'm feel out of sorts.

Not insulting at all. I'd agree with this.

There will always be something to do around the house. But if there genuinely isn't, you go outside where you can do one of potentially a hundred things!

Absolutely, no reason in this day and age to feel bored.
