To go away on my own?

Dp and I have made some loose plans for going away over my birthday, just camping for a couple days but I'm really looking forward to it.

As my birthday is in the summer this is a peak time at work for both of us and while I've OK'd it with my work his is a bit more complicated and his shift pattern may change by then so that he doesn't have the time off.

Wibu to stick with the time off and go away on my own?

I'd feel a bit bad because I could cancel the time off if it doesn't work out with his shifts and save it for another time later in the year when we can be off together but I know if he doesn't get the time off I'll just be sat around on my own on my birthday (I don't have many close friends in the area and all my family live hundreds of miles away so no one to hang out with instead). I feel like I may as well do something I enjoy instead!

This kind of ties in to the fact that I was very happy doing solo things before I met DP and, in fact, I did take a solo holiday not long after we first met but I realise recently that that was years ago and sometimes I do miss my solo trips. It's not that I can't do that now it's just that since moving in with DP I've prioritised having holidays with him and since moving in with him my transport broke down and I haven't had the money to replace it. Public transport isn't brilliant where I am so it's more difficult to go off on my own like I used to.

Wibu to have a holiday on my own for my birthday even if DP can't join me?

Not unreasonable at all - sounds like it would be good for you! I too miss holidaying on my own, but now we have a child I think it will be many, many years before I got to do that again. Enjoy yourself!

I get away on my own every few months, thoroughly enjoy it!

Sounds like a nice plan.
