DS bad stomach but no other symptoms

DS (5) has had diarrhoea all day. He is going to the toilet every 5 minutes and is complaining that his stomach is really painful. When he's not on the toilet he has been running round and playing like normal and has been eating normally etc. he has got allergies but we are 99.9% sure he hasn't eaten anything he has an allergy to. The only thing I'm worrying about is the frequency he is going and how much pain he says his stomach is after he's been. Can kids have diarrhoea without any other symptoms?

Had he eaten any dairy? I’m lactose intolerant and that’s exactly how I feel if I’ve had dairy, bad belly but once it’s out of my system I’m fine and doesn’t cause any other symptoms.

@Changingplace he used to have a dairy intolerance but actually grew out of it. He has had dairy today but only a very small amount
