To ask wtf happened to my vag?

I'm 41, 3 babies. Used to use tampons and menstrual cups without batting an eyelid. I've just had my period return after pregnancy and birth (16mo baby, she feeds all night long so I think that's why), and I am struggling with regular sized tampons. It's like my vagina, as in my birth canal, is no longer there and there's nowhere to put it. It's also really painful! Cannot get the menstrual cup in without feeling faint.

What is this??

Haven't had sex since birth if that's relevant.

I couldn’t have sex till I stopped BF, it was far too painful. the sexual health clinic said it was related to hormones. Some women react like this to BF apparently. It might be that.

Have you had a look with a mirror? It could be a prolapse, or as PP said hormone related.

This is one for your GP rather than the internet.

Best of luck getting it sorted out.

I felt similar during BFing. It’s like my body didn’t want ANYTHING up there while I was still feeding a demanding toddler, like it knew i couldn’t possibly cope with another child 😂

Not wishing to freak you out but I 'healed up' post birth. Had 2 symmetrical internal tears and vag sealed up. I was a born again virgin. Get yourself examined.

I'd be thinking prolapse. I couldn't keep a tampon in when I got a prolapse. Google your local NHS Women's Health Physio. If you're unable to self refer, ask the GP to refer you.

Also have a look at the Kegel8 pelvic floor toners. I didn't address my prolapse early, and it's got worse with time. And the peri menopause isn't helping!
