Optibac for those on antibiotics - has anyone taken?

On antibiotics at the moment and the local health shop mentioned taking Optibac for those on antibiotics to stabilise the gut health. I haven’t had to take antibiotics for a while (fingers crossed won’t have to for a while after this course!) , I’ve not taken Optibac before, didn’t know if just having some Activit yogurts could be just as good?

AIbu to be worried about taking the Optibac or does it make sense after being on a course of antibiotics?

By chance I've just begun Optibac today (after being ill earlier in the year and having antibiotics). Will be interested to see if anyone has any comments !

Swear by these after antibiotics. Used them after my c section and gave them to my newborn and son after a course of antibiotics for tonsillitis.

I used them whilst on a two week, high dose course of antibiotics for severe mastitis. I didn't develop thrush that time which is very unusual for me, so was quite happy!

We alternate between this and biogaia for my toddler who was on permanent antibiotics for a health condition and then developed food allergies. The allergies improved a lot. Can't be sure the probiotics helped but they certainly didn't hurt.

I always take Optibac with Antibiotics - no more upset stomachs or thrush when on a course of them. They are a name-changer (and there are different ones for each type of antibiotic, too.)

Optibac has the same range of gut bacteria as any of the other brands, and the same as you would get with yoghurt or kefir. They all do the same thing. I like Kefir and yoghurt anyway, so just eat that.

Thank you everyone. It says on the pack best taken with breakfast , does it matter if you take them with lunch for example instead? Has anyone has any side effects from taking them? Really silly question but why does it help to take them when on or just after taking a course of antibiotics? What does Optibac help with?

Yes or kimchi or sauerkraut too!

My late DM had many courses of very strong antibiotics and swore by Optibac!
