I bought a Bush washer dryer last April. It’s been tripping the electrics when the dryer is on spin and it’s gone really noisy. I’ve had a nightmare with the warranty people, they said it was the heating element, ordered the part and didn’t turn up. They have offered to rebook.

I called my insurer, domestic and general who visited and due to being unable to find the parts they’ve scrapped the washer and asked me to select a replacement.

The only suitable one is a Hotpoint. I don’t fancy it at all. I liked the one I have, it worked great until it broke. I’m also concerned about the environmental impact tbh.
Something inside is telling me not to scrap this washer dryer basically.

What would you do?

Would they give you the value of the machine and allow you to add money to get a machine you’re happy with?

Loopytiles · 21/03/2024 20:23

i would get the hotpoint

Stressedafff · 21/03/2024 20:24

I could pay £75 to upgrade the hotpoint…to another hotpoint. I have a hotpoint cooker and I’m actually waiting for that to break I can’t stand it.

So its still under warranty?.. if so, i'd stick with pursuing that line, get them to rebook and if theres still a problem, kick up a massive stink!
Get them to replace it?

Also, if you go down the insurance route, will that push up your premium?

Stressedafff · 21/03/2024 21:26

No it’s not affected the premium as it’s part of the terms. If it’s irreparable they’ll replace it. But idk I just don’t feel like I want to replace a washer that’s literally not even a year old. Plus I loved it!

My mums told me to take the new one but I’m still having doubts

Can the warranty people not just replace it with the same model?

JaceLancs · 21/03/2024 22:26

Take the new one

I've had a washing machine and separate drier insude by that company and I am very surprised they've offered to replace it so I would definitely take them up on it. They replaced parts in my tumble drier (the ones that got recalled due to fire risk) til absolutely everything inside it had been replaced, the door hinges, seals etc all replaced at different stages over the years and refused point blank to ever replace it with something that wasn't needing repairs every few months. I argued it with them for some time before cancelling all my policies with them and just buying a new drier. The rust alone showed how old it was but even the engineer commented how awful that company was at refusing to ever replace an appliance.

I’ve heard this too! Ironically they’ve been out about 6 times to my indesit fridge freezer that’s practically begging to be put out of its misery yet they’ve decided off one visit they can’t get the part for the washer dryer. It’s all abit odd

Take the new one for sure, we had an appliance that started to go wrong in the first year, don't ask me how many times it was repaired because I lost count. By the time they finally condemned it, pretty much every part had been replaced, several had been replaced twice. It was 6 years of misery
