I manage a woman who has been off with me since I started. I am always polite to her, but she applied for my job and was unsuccessful. It seems nothing I do will improve her attitude. She is negative and very independent, eg working on things that she hasn’t made anyone aware about, criticising others yet making errors that need to be fixed, and has been quite unsupportive of new starters that are more senior than her. It’s a constant battle of asking her to include me in meetings and keep me updated on what she is working on, unnecessarily tense?

also since I started, she messages my manager and even his manager, without speaking to me first.

none of the things she has messaged them about are concerning. But it’s just another aspect of her sort of acting like I don’t exist. Ideally my management would just redirect her, but they just tend to ignore her emails full stop. Aibu to find this annoying and any advice? Of course, she needs to be managed but I’m not sure if my own management aren’t supportive of that.
