To find driving test stories absolutely boring?

I don’t know what it is about them. But whatever the subject of it comes up, everyone will have to tell you how many times they took it, how many minors they got when no body even asked!

I think it might just be me though (prepares for thread of these exact stories)

OP posts:
BreakfastAtMimis · 19/03/2024 21:52

August 1998. Passed first time, four minor faults. 😜

NorthCliffs · 19/03/2024 21:52

My Mum passed her test when she was 9 months pregnant. I think he just wanted to get her out of the car! Sorry, OP.

Oh, and I passed second try. Three minors.

MrsDandelion · 19/03/2024 21:53

second time. No idea what these minors you speak of are. I took it a very ling time ago.

mentallyilltotallychill · 19/03/2024 22:02

Im with you OP. I passed in 2017 and cannot remember how many minors etc and those tiny details bore me.

On my test though Was focussing on how half way through my bra came unhooked so was “bouncing” a bit so was too focussed on that trying to make it look it wasn't a ploy for me to pass 😅 so probably couldn’t remember what he said after what i did wrong etc. did pass first time so maybe it was why….

Ogam · 19/03/2024 22:03

Why are you having so many driving test chats?

on the topic- I passed first time with seven minors…

Lovelylydia · 19/03/2024 22:04

Passed first time but have no idea what minors are…

Bedofclouds · 19/03/2024 22:15

Totally with you on this one! I must admit I’ve probably shared my own story to the degree of how many times it took to pass, but I certainly wouldn’t remember or even consider sharing the finer details. How weird! That’s like sharing stories about what age you were when you learned to walk, talk, be potty trained… if you’re a driver, just get on with it, no need for evidential chat! 😂

BigPimpinSpendinCheese · 19/03/2024 22:28

Took nine attemps, only passed because i cheated.

HighLlamas · 19/03/2024 22:29

They’re better than the ‘how heavy the traffic was on the way’ or the ‘where I went on my holidays’ stories.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 19/03/2024 22:30

Omg it’s so long ago (over 30 years)that while I know that I passed first time I couldn’t tell you any more than that!

newmum0604 · 19/03/2024 22:30

Passed first time but to this day would fail if I had to parallel park

Circumferences · 19/03/2024 22:32

Do you work as a driving examiner?

How can you cheat a practical test? Did you exchange sexual favours???

Since you asked, I passed first time at 17yo with ten and a half minors. I'd never driven in the area where I took my test, and about 10 minutes prior to leaving I'd learnt of a relative's death.

It was a gloriously sunny and warm July afternoon.

Same, but 27 May 1994. 8.40am test. I could still drive you round the route as well! (Plus tell you what I was wearing and that the tester had Flintstones socks on. With sandals!) 🙈🤣

easylikeasundaymorn · 19/03/2024 22:38

I don't think I've ever discussed my driving test with someone since I passed nearly 20 years ago! Nor has anyone ever told me about theirs. Might have been a vaguely interesting topic as a 17 year old but not since. Also unless something funny happened most people won't have much of a 'story' surely?

Saying that I remember one friend in 6th form failed their test because he hit a kamikaze sheep.

CranfordScones · 19/03/2024 22:49

I had less than a dozen lessons and some practice with my dad, and I definitely wasn't test-ready. The only reason I passed was because no one died.

CrushingOnRubies · 19/03/2024 23:02

Passed on the third go! How I don't know. I'm sure i pranged a parked car and almost knocked over a cyclist.

I was so shocked when he said I'd passed

Me too! I was a week away from my due date. The guy looked terrified.

OP, I don’t think I’ve had a conversation about driving tests… ever? Why does it keep coming up?

LaPalmaLlama · 20/03/2024 11:32

I failed for an emergency stop to avoid a squirrel. Apparently I should’ve just run it over. Hated the little fuckers ever since.

AntonFeckoff · 20/03/2024 11:39

I failed first time in 2008 because apparently I was too far from the kerb reversing round a corner, ridiculous. I had the head examiner and when we met at the test centre the first thing he did was mock my accent. Passed second time with no issues.

KimberleyClark · 20/03/2024 11:39

I passed, way back in 1987, on my 5th go after failing the eyesight test on my fourth go. When I passed I did the pre test lesson with a different instructor as my usual one couldn’t make it.
