I don't want to divulge into the whole history as it's TOO long but to cut it short. I used to work in a team of 5, 4 of us and our team lead. Team lead gets another job after 4 years of working together and a year later I also move on to another role.
Still in touch with everyone I worked with. When team lead left she was replaced by one of us in the team let's call her Francis. Francis immediately gets power hungry and starts to change the dynamic of the team. We have always been very close knit, very friendly and always had each others backs and great support network. However Francis' behaviour is immediately noticed and it causes a little tension in the team but nothing we couldn't handle and I did my upmost to ensure a positive vibe in the team (even though that wasn't my job to). When I leave a year later all hell seems to have broken loose. The remaining team members have all messaged me individually to say Francis has become very rude towards them, she is super micro managing them all and her playground behaviour (tit for tat snarky comments) are not going unnoticed. She has all round made the workplace very uncomfortable, the remaining team members dread going into the office and she has created such an atmosphere that members of the team who have been there for a number of years are contemplating on leaving.
Over the weekend however she called three of the team members who seem to have been affected the most by Francis' behaviour and said to them why did you say I'm not a good team leader? I have heard you have said negative things about me? The team members were very taken aback by her approach and reached out to me. Am I right in telling them this is borderline harassment and to report her to HR as she has contacted them on a Sunday and came across as aggressive to them? I also worked with Francis she was never friendly but stayed friendly enough that I could have general chat with her but I was never close as I was with other people in the team. I am just outlining here but her behaviour and approach make me think she is not cut out for a management role and she is creating a horrible work environment.
