I am not British and have 3 very, very close childhood friends living in my home country which I love and we speak almost every day. I haven’t managed to create a big circle of friends here in the UK despite the fact that I have lived in this country for almost 10 years now.
I only have 1 good friend which I met via another person a few years ago and then made friends with another mum from nursery which happens to also be an expat. She has a fantastic group of other expat friends here (I am talking about 20 couple almost all with kids) and they are always busy with lots of play dates and bday parties etc. I’d like to espose DS to a wider circle of people and for him to play with more kids outside of nursery but find it hard to truly connect with people on a daily basis.
I work full time in London and my colleagues all live quite far from us and most of them are at different stages of life.
DH doesn’t hve many friends either, he is very introverted (like me) and only has 2-3 very close friends but one of them relocated overseas and we never see him.
Is there something wrong with me? Does anyone else struggle with this too? How do you find new friends as an adult? I am hoping to meet some nice parents when DS goes to school next year, maybe that will be a fresh start
