Did anyone watch Ryan Gosling perform "I'm just ken" from Barbie, at the Oscars?

It was so much fun.

He got Margot Robbie, Greta Gerwig, Emma stone, Slash and Mark Ronson in the performance.

What did you think of it?

Just brilliant. Made me laugh when I could see him trying to suppress his giggles

Herdinggoats · 18/03/2024 14:52

I thought it was a bit of an in-joke and self-indulgent clap-trap to be honest. But you both enjoyed it, so obviously I’m wrong. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Smokeysgirl · 18/03/2024 14:57

It was the best part of the whole show for me, that and Billy Eilish(?) singing her beautiful song.

itsnotabouthepasta · 18/03/2024 14:57

I loved every minute of it. Ryan Gosling looked like he was having a great time and quite frankly showed up the Oscars for being the pretentious crap that its turned into.

Jessforless · 18/03/2024 14:59

I loved it, he was fantastic… I think it’s a nice ending to a journey that started with him being considered a joke for taking the role.

Everleigh13 · 18/03/2024 15:03

I thought it was great fun. I’ve watched it a few times. Made me laugh which is definitely needed!

MineAgain · 18/03/2024 15:10

I loved it. Very funny seeing him trying not to laugh.

I would usually never comment on such a thing but I adored RG's Ken performance at the Oscar's. He was hilarious, over the top. I have that song in my head daily. Haven't even seen the film yet.

I grew up with 3 sisters playing passionate scenes with my Barbies and Kens and (GI Joes). We dressed the barbies (mainly) in perfectly handmade gowns by my grandmother. My granddaughter now has most of them! The only dolls we ever played with...

Good fun but I don't get why Billie Eilishe's song was considered Oscar-worthy

midnights0 · 18/03/2024 15:22

I absolutely loved it, I've watched it a few times now. Can tell he has so much fun doing it and him holding his laughter in makes me laugh!

Partly personal taste. But she's 22, writes and performs, there's not many artists, that match her. She's up there in that sense with McCartney, Bowie, Jagger, Noel Gallagher etc. The song fitted the movie perfectly.

Taylormiffed · 18/03/2024 15:29

Yes, loved it. So much more fun than the usual Oscars performances.
Billie and her brother deserved the Oscar though.

BiggerBoat1 · 18/03/2024 15:29

Bloody brilliant. Really brought the evening to life. Loved how tongue in cheek it was.

Ana25 · 18/03/2024 15:30

I just loved it and have watched it so many times already!

strawberry12345 · 18/03/2024 15:30

I agree - thought he was brilliant. The addition of Slash at the end was hilarious. I’ve watched it several times it makes me smile so much!

Sashamalia · 18/03/2024 16:18

Yeah it was just really good fun

It was fabulous. As was his performance in the film (I loved the film and everyone else in it)

LetMeJustCheckMyCitrusPocket · 19/03/2024 21:20

Cane on to see if anyone else had posted about it. Haven't seen the film, never been a particular Ryan Gosling fan but absolutely loved his performance and the reactions it produced, all the little touches were so lovely and I can't stop watching it!
