Aibu to feel down whenever I’ve got the lurgy

I’m really not good at keeping positive whenever I’ve got the lurgy. I know it could be so much worse and I’m being a wimp but colds /bugs seem different to how they used to be, they take so much longer to get rid of! Is anyone else good at keeping positive when feeling ropey and just carrying on with things? If so, please give me some tips!

I’m on day 8 of a vile bug, and I’ve whinged for England, I don’t mind admitting it.

It's crap isn't it? I recently decided , right I'm going to get fit , read my pile of books and start learning a language. Then this happens. Now I have guilt on top!

Still at least we are facing into the summer. The radio is always a comfort. And Extra Strong mints. I don't care if they're only a placebo 😂

Cloud44 · 18/03/2024 13:33

Do extra strong mints help?! Got what I think is a head cold, and sore throat, ear ache and zero energy!

Sore throat, earache, fatigue, sinus pain, headache.

It’s a laugh a minute. I’m going to send DH to the shops for extra strong mints, I think.

I'm wallowing in a lot of self pity currently, as I seem to have a never ending (over a week currently) hacking cough. Mine is made worse by this constant anxiety as I'm asthmatic so I'm worrying about that being triggered.

Im never a very patient patient though, 48 hours and im wanting it over!

ASmokeyEyeAndARedLip · 18/03/2024 13:59

I get very panicky when I have a cold and can’t breathe properly as I have claustrophobia and hate any restrictions to getting air. It is quite frightening. I’ve had ‘walking pneumonia’ several times and that was horrible as the coughing and breathlessness added to my panic!
Sending you some 💐OP, hope you’re better soon!

I’m feeling pretty awful tonight, can anyone cheer me up?! Got so much on this week, really could do with not being poorly.

Im on day 7 of my second virus in a month. The first one lasted over 3 weeks.
I feel utterly miserable and actually more unwell with each day. I’m really fed up of feeling so bad because theres no end in sight. Colds never used to make me feel this unwell.

bluetongue · 19/03/2024 07:55

I just had Covid on an expensive trip to Canada. I haven’t even had a cold for over a year. To say I was grumpy and passed off is an understatement.

Cloud44 · 19/03/2024 09:42

It’s really miserable when lots of viruses seem to be doing the rounds.

I'm convinced Extra Strong Mints are all that's saving me from an iron lung 😂. Halls Mentholytus good too.

I’ve had several bugs over Winter, one after the other. Ruined my expensive New Year abroad. I absolutely hate them and am floored each time. It’s never just a cold. Looking into how I can improve my immunity because I can’t face another winter like this. I’m thinking it maybe the baby grandson to blame bringing his bugs from nursery! That and long haul flights.
