Are there any hidden gems to make car insurance cheaper?

Mines gone up by £150. Nothing has changed.

I understand it goes up every year but wondered if there was any way to keep the cost down?

I do money supermarket etc and all similar prices

Most of us are in the same boat, unfortunately. Mine’s looking like it’ll be going up about £200. Nothing has changed for me.

Martin Lewis has a few tips like buying insurance exactly 23 days before it’s due etc so have a look at Money Saving Expert.

Yeah I know a lot of us are in the same boat. I remember back in the day when it went down each year!

Just wondered if there was anything I was missing to bring down the cost.

I've also heard of increasing the excess you'd be willing to pay if you did have an accident (to eg £1000), that can then lower the cost of the insurance quite a bit.

Then, you pay separately a small amount for another insurance policy to cover the cost of the excess, if you did have that accident.

I haven't done it myself but have heard it's an option.

I went to Tesco. If you've got a clubcard it brings the price down. I managed to get insurance for slightly less that I was paying last year after being quoted almost double at renewal!

Tesco isn't on comparison websites so sometimes it's worth the extra hassle of going direct.
