To think I shouldn’t be trained by someone new?

The person started six weeks before me, they got trained by our manager who obviously has a lot more experience etc.

I think it creates an imbalance because we are the same level.

Potentially I’m being sensitive but I just left an horrendous job of 3 years where the training was non existent and it really disadvantaged me later on.

Presumably this person is now doing the role and doing all the tasks? If you have a question they can’t answer then you can both ask the manager together and learn. I don’t see how you are disadvantaged 🤷🏻‍♀️

You are only going to be learning your role- they aren’t going to be teaching you anything extra

There’s always imbalance work. I imagine as you’re new you’re probably earning more than some people who have been there longer than you. There will be people who help you and rain you who are being paid less than you despite having more knowledge. In all the places I’ve worked that always been the case.
If you’re both fairly new then they’re probably only training you in the basic part of your role. There must be other people you can ask for help with more complicated parts of the job.
Plus you can always ask for extra training from others which will make you look good as you’re being proactive in making sure you’ve thoroughly learnt all aspects of the job etc.
I do get that it does seem unfair the other person was trained by the manager and then you’re being trained by someone who won’t have in-depth knowledge of the job, but the working world is just unfair. Though maybe there’ll be another new starter in a few months and you’ll have an opportunity to train them and then you’ll have something good to mention in your reviews!
