On the 7th of Feb mumsnet posted a ‘sponsored Q&A’, in which people could ask questions about the government’s childcare provision. These would be answered by David Johnston, an MP and Minister for Children and Families.

The initial post suggested they would be answered by end end of Feb. Mumsnet noted this hadn’t happened on 29th Feb. It’s now the 17th of March and… still nothing.

It is odd, IMO, for the Minister of Children and Families to not to answer the questions (which they asked for), on a matter which is a huge issue to parents of pretty much all preschoolers in Britain.

Why bother asking to do a sponsored Q&A, if they were then not going to answer the questions?

Or have the Conservatives entirely given up on convincing any of us to vote for them? What message do they think this sends?

Honestly, I don't think they care one jot.

I asked a question about lack of childcare support for most NHS students and highlighted misleading information that's in news reports about NHS student childcare funding.

It's all spin. They don't care about us.

@Ecnerual I agree it does give a 'this is no remotely important' vibe.

Given it is being reported they don't even know how they are funding the new childcare provision, it isn't wholly surprising they have suddenly decided they can't answer any questions on it.

We can only assume it's because they haven't got any answers!
