What on earth is wrong with dating?!

Can we please stop with the chase stuff.
It literally feels like a competition of who can be into each other the least.
Women are supposed to reserve sex as some sort of prize that the man gets once he's successfully chased her, like she's some sort of prey.
If a woman 'gives in' to a man too soon, then he'll lose interest because there's nothing to 'work for'.
Is this really how you'd want your sons to behave?
People get 'the ick' over the most innocuous things, like the guy was wearing shoes she didn't like.
If people don't feel this Disney-style Hollywood movie spark within the first 10 seconds of meeting someone then they are forevermore written off, nothing can ever come of it.
It's honestly so depressing.
Why can't a woman ask a man out? Dating seems more fun when you both know you like each other. Why would you want to keep running after someone you didn't know was interested? Surely that's just desperate?
Honestly the whole thing is depressing.

I'd love to know how this chase thing works. Does it continue until the man has won his prize of sleeping with the woman? Does it continue throughout the relationship, i.e. the man is expected to always contact the woman first and arrange every date?
The woman is expected to convey the minimum of interest by simply smiling and batting her eyelashes at the man, but just sitting pretty and saying nothing.
I'm not talking about people having a busy life and not always being available.
I have a busy life, I don't text back right away, I'm not always available and it hasn't got me anywhere.

What?

I suspect the dates that start off like that don't end up turning into relationships.

Well my daughter didn't do this with any man.. because she's Gay.
Neither did it happen with her partner.
You're not making any sense.
