AIBU or would you be unhappy with this?

Are those gaps underneath or concrete?

BruhWhy · 15/03/2024 18:33

I think the various levels of your patio and garden ruled out the scalloped fencing ever looking neat, and they should have told you that.

Tickletuesday · 15/03/2024 18:33

The gate looks a bit short. I am
not sure what else they could have done with the two half panels. Perhaps would have looked better with straight edges. A couple of climbing plants and you’ll not worry. Pretty sure I wouldn’t have noticed without it being pointed out.

Geebray · 15/03/2024 18:35

The bases in each panel aren't level? It's all very weird.

Needanewnamebeingwatched · 15/03/2024 18:35

Looks shit, I would complain

rwalker · 15/03/2024 18:36

Would take much to make the 2 odd panels a more symmetrical curve
i couldn’t cope with the I like everything equal

Notwhatyouwanttohear · 15/03/2024 18:39

Not sure what you expect.

You have shitty half moon panels when the gaps are not wide enough for them, at least they've tried with the angles either side of the gate.

The gate being off centre of the path is unforgiveable

GymBergerac · 15/03/2024 18:40

Nice enough panels and gates very badly planned and fitted. If I/DH had done it, I'd suck it up and say it wasn't bad, but if I'd paid a professional I'd have been ticked off. Too uneven to look at if it's a tradesman job.

Skiphopbump · 15/03/2024 18:43

Who chose the panels? They really don’t work with your layout.

Itwasfuckinwannayas · 15/03/2024 18:47

Deleted as double posted.

RawBloomers · 15/03/2024 18:50

If they put the posts in, then this looks badly done. The posts are set in the wrong places for the panels to look good (and especially the path. If they just put new panels up, I’m not sure there could have been a much better way to do it with the panels chosen.

FieldInWhichFucksAreGrownIsBarren · 15/03/2024 18:50

Sorry but that looks shocking! Wouldn't be paying until it was rectified.

Itwasfuckinwannayas · 15/03/2024 18:51

I think the main problem is the gate and alignment of other sections. I would have a problem if it were my property. Did they consult with you about this before hand?

LIZS · 15/03/2024 18:55

You would expect whole panels either side of the gate and cut down in less visual positions. Do you get caps on concrete posts, I thought just the pointed profile. Were you in when it went up?

m00rfarm · 15/03/2024 18:57

Did you pay someone to do it?

NCForQuestions · 15/03/2024 19:09

What did you expect? What did you agree to? How much did you pay?

MargaretThursday · 15/03/2024 19:10

It would have cost more I expect to have it symmetrical, which I think is what you're getting at. Did they talk about that at all, or just assumed?

But it would massively irritate me every time I saw it, even if I was just walking past.

AnOldCynic · 15/03/2024 19:25

Something like this. Although ground slopes they could have gone something to make tops level.

But yes, depends on what you told them and what you paid.

This is how the same section looked before, I asked for “same style of fencing “ and they have dug and replaced fence posts and chosen position. I haven’t yet paid in full for it and DH was here while they did it.

Why did they change the posts and plinths?

taxguru · 15/03/2024 19:51

They should have done full widths each side of the gate and then cut smaller pieces for each end. It's stupid to have two cut out pieces each side of the gate in prime position. Your "before" picture shows how it should be done. Don't pay and make them do the job again! They've done a very amateur job without any forethought as to how it would look in the end. Looks like they've just bodged it up as they've gone along.

Edited

This. I really wouldn't pay them until they fix it.
