I’m freaking out - I’ve had three random incidents of waking up soaked and have had lower abdominal pain. I’ve been treated for a UTI with antibiotics so it’s not that as it happened again last night. Anyone experienced this and what was the cause? I’m terrified as I smoked for 20 years.

you need to go back to the gp.

they might need yo take a culture to see if the ab have worked as some bugs are resistant. or your infection is of another origin that doesn't respond to ab at all.

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 15/03/2024 08:58

Or diabetes, or a hormonal imbalance, or could still be a UTI that hasn't responded to the antibiotics, or a kidney stone, or a medication side effect if you are taking any meds....

There are lots of potential causes that need to be ruled out before you move straight to cancer.

SpringSprungALeak · 15/03/2024 09:07

@Lennon80 try not to panic. There are loads of things it could be. Obviously another GP appointment is needed, it's most likely to be the UTI not really gone.

Hi, can I join you? I’ve had a similar issue for the passed week, plus leaking during the day (not when coughing or sneezing, just random leakage), I also have what feels like period pains, but I’ve not had a period for 18 months. I saw the doc a couple of days ago, she ruled out UTI and prolapse and is booking me a scan. My gut is saying ovarian cyst, but I’m concerned it could be something else.

Weirdly, when I had my last UTIs, thankfully some years ago, I didn't get pain, burning, I just peed, I couldn't hold it! I was nursing, tested my urine, and trotted down to the ED for antibiotics..

My first major UTI (started pissing frank blood after a long bout of illness) after I started antibiotics was like this

As soon as I felt the urge to go, it was too late, I was wetting myself

I spent three days in Tena Lady pads, too scared to go too far from a toilet

One of those terrifying glimpses into the future and a reminder to do my pelvic floor exercises

Lavender997 · 15/03/2024 09:25

This could be caused by a few different things, kidney stones being one. Definitely go back to your GP

I’ve spoken to GP culture came back with nothing and antibiotics I was on were very strong high dose so she said needs urgent bloods and urgent scan. I’ve got a complex gyny history to previous tumours. Please let me know your outcome.

DH has had many kidney stones in his lifetime..severe upper back pain, sometimes travelling down the urethra to the end of the penis, that's usually when he passes one. Never frequency or burning or bladder pain..I did have a kidney infection once
Pain, burning, frequency, shivering, severe back pain.

I've got a cystocele, sometimes causes lower mid abdomen pain.
