Asked for ID at the age of 54!

Is this not utter madness? Went to Asda for wine and was asked for ID. Probably look a wee bit younger than 54, but at best in my late 40’s! It’s right up there, with Tesco refusing to sell me wine when I had my 19 year old daughter with me, because she didn’t have ID, and I couldn’t prove I wasn’t buying it for her!

I was asked for ID at 42. I clearly am 42. I had ID - it was my driving license, expired as I have a disability meaning I will never be able to renew it. My birthday of course does not expire and the photo was a clear likeness. I could verify my name and address.

I used to often ID people in their late 30s. The not servi g someone who has a youngster with them is absolute horse shit tbh, the think 25 policy clearly states that the member of staff who is doing the think 25 check has to have clear evidence (I.e they heard the young person asking the customer to buy them alcohol) that it is a proxy sale. They can't just refuse a sale because there's a teenager present. The same thing happened to me in co op because I was buying cider and my 13 year old son was with me. I explained what the think 25 policy was and how they were misusing it but they wouldn't budge so I emailed an official complaint.

Sometimes places have a policy of checking everyone regardless of the age they look.

54! That's batshit! 😆 Although, my friend was asked (last week) if she was pregnant - when she went for an X-ray. She is 56! (Like everyone in the world, she looks roughly her age, and no way does she look any younger than mid 50s.)
