Probably get slated for posting here for traffic but since services around here are non existent I need as much advice as possible.

My summer born son is 4 and in reception. He won’t talk a school, will only point (to the toilet for example). If teachers give him phrases to repeat back, he will do it quietly and unclearly. Doesn’t communicate verbally with peers. He communicates verbally at home but does have a speech delay- referred to SALT.

also has a motor skill delay, which he was referred to physio for.

what sort of help should I be asking for as he just seems to sad at school, can’t communicate his needs and can’t keep up with peers?

Ask your SALT about Situational/Selective Mutism. It sounds like this is what may be happening with your little boy.
