So, I am planning to leave my husband and have put my name down for a council property, the ranking is over 20?

I know there are people in a much worse position than me and I absolutely want them to be prioritised, how long am I expected to wait does anybody know?

Do you need a council property? If you are on a low income there is housing benefit which could help.

each council has a different waiting list, and even if you are top of the list someone could come in with more priority than you and jump to the top of the list.

Some councils you could be waiting a few weeks, but it seems most people end up waiting years on the list. I would also be looking at the poosibility of getting a private rental with houseing benefit etc

In my local area that ranking would be around 3 years ish most likely.

How can anyone answer this? Every council in the UK has its own housing rules.
