Telephone wires?

I love my 70s house, but we have three telephone poles outside our house which drapes wires all over the place including across our drive (causing lots of pigeon poo!) and several connecting to our house. They really are very unsightly.

Do we have any power to request them changed at all? If so, who would I contact?
What are they even for as I'm sure most don't have phone lines anymore! Am I being an unreasonable drama queen?

You still need the wires even if you don’t have a home phone. The wire is still needed for fibre broadband

The big one looks like a power cable, not telephone. Some people up the road from us have anti-bird spikes on the power cable outside their house - but I don't know how they got them fitted. Phone cables aren't strong enough for Pigeons anyway.
