To ask if you would have met up?

Brianna Gheys mother was on breakfast news this morning saying that they had now met up with Scarlett jenkinsons mum to talk.

Could you see yourself meeting up with the parent or parents of your child's killer if it happened to you?

Possibly as the parent didnt kill her daughter the child did,

Peopleareverystrangethesedays · 11/03/2024 18:25

Not sure, it would depend on the circumstances. It sounds like Scarlett was raised in quite a "normal" and caring family, and it doesn't sound like they ever tried to deny that she did it. Their lives have been devastated as well but they fully accept that she is responsible. That's different to, say Lucy Letby's parents who from what I heard refused to entertain the idea that she might actually have been guilty.

What about the boys mum? There were two of them.
His mother is also having to deal with the fact her sons father is a pedophile.
I don't think I'd want to know them. I'd be to angry and it would be so depressing.

Dacadactyl · 11/03/2024 18:25

Yes I think I would.

I would like to think it could be quite healing in some ways.

yes but that goes for any crime I suppose, would you meet up with the family?

I think I would, potentially. They're both linked through this awful event so I would imagine there's some comfort to be had in a conversation. The other mother has also lost their child, in a way.

It's a very brave thing to do. I admire BG's mother.

TuliLily · 12/03/2024 16:22

Personally no.

KreedKafer · 12/03/2024 16:55

I don't think anyone really knows what they would do in a situation like this. We can only guess. It's a very unusual and very nuanced situation to be in, and everybody's different. Both women have certainly come across as extremely thoughtful, considered, empathetic people and Esther Ghey has said publicly that she knows this must have be hell for Scarlett and Eddie's families.

What about the boys mum?

Perhaps she doesn't want to meet with Brianna's mother. Not everyone could cope with something like that. Or perhaps she will one day, but isn't yet ready. We don't know.

citruslemmon · 12/03/2024 16:58

Definitely not while it was so raw, it would be too upsetting and emotional for me but in time maybe.
Grief is so unpredictable we couldn't possibly know how we'd feel or cope in such a situation.

TheTimeIsNowMaybeNow · 12/03/2024 16:58

No I wouldn't
