The royal family - put them in the “bin“ !

I genuinely want Kate to recover in peace, which is why I think the most humane thing to do, would be to put her in the “””bin”””” (metaphorically). Why are we allowing another woman jn a democratic society to be pumelled by the worlds media and under this level of pressure.

Of course we are speculating, she’s almost the royal family’s most liked/famous member. Should she be though ? Should we have a royal family where the women are under so much scrutiny ?

Kensington Palace Publicists are taking the UK and world as fools.

The independent is running “Lady Rose” stories

William is pulling out of funerals 40 minutes before without explanation.

Camilla is on a sun lounger while Charles does chemo.

Harry and Meghan blew up the monarchy with Oprah

Prince Andrew arguably blew it up with Epstein

The institution is built on the back of women marrying in, treated like silent clothes horses and held under enormous pressure (eg Kate these last few weeks).

Put them in the “bin”

Maybe we could just put them in the Royal Family topic like the 400 other threads about them this morning?

If Kate was "another woman" then she wouldn't expect any differential treatment, however, she lives a pampered life, free houses and palaces, free private helicopters and limousine rides, the best health care, not to mention the expectation that us "commoners" must literally bow down and curtsey to her.

So no, she isn't just another woman. If she doesn't want to be there she is quite entitled to leave, H&M did.

If she chooses to stay part of "the firm", then she must play the part.

Should we be expecting any woman in 2024, modern Britain - with a society that upholds sex discrimination laws - to comply with this.

How is the pressure of the worlds media expecting you to do x and x and the pressure of a newly patriarchal monarchy, where women are the sacrificial lambs, okay ? How does it differ that much to the #metoo movement or Harvey Weinstein asking for just 5 minutes….

And yet you're here, joining in.

Hereyoume · 11/03/2024 14:36

How does it differ from #metoo?

Oh I dunno, perhaps because Kate isn't a victim of anything, unless you consider unimaginable wealth and privilege to be a bad thing.

Yes that’s so odd! Why have they done that?!

Is it cynical cashing in by the press?

Modern Britain?

It's neo-feudal Britain.

Abolish them for our sakes, not theirs.

Btw the palace excused itself from equality laws so they didn't have to hire people of colour. That lovely queen eh.

Your sympathy should lie with the people, not those grifters.

We wouldn’t know as she’s not allowed to talk & risks severe backlash if she does.

I would say she’s a victim of psychological warfare by the media and public. The photo was basically given under duress.

All I could think was imagine if it'd been Meghan who'd doctored the photo BlushBlush

She’s basically been hounded by the entire world & criticised. I can’t even comprehend that level of pressure. I don’t think that’s a reasonable or normal expectation to have on any person, no matter the non,

There is literally no way she didn't know what she was marrying in to. She CHOSE it.

I think it's utterly ridiculous that the public have to hear stories about these people constantly and have photos of them rammed down our throats BUT it is now as it has been for decades of royal women.

She made her bed.

It's not normal, no. They are not normal people and she chose to join them, knowing exactly what her predecessor went through.

Or maybe she fell in love with William? She was older than Diana and must have been much more aware of how things might be. Similarly, Meghan was actually more than twice Diana's age when she married into the RF, and most certainly not a shy ingenue from the English shires!! So not a comparable situation.

I imagine that Catherine was prepared to some extend for the press intrusion but no-one on this earth could have anticipated or prepared for the revolting social media campaign which the Sussexes instigated against her, and then tried to retract when the damage was done. And, despite constantly making speeches about the horrors of online bullying and the importance of mental health, oddly they seem unwilling to come out and condemn this horrible bullying campaign, even though some of the main perpetrators are seemingly their mates (Bouzy, Scobie). Strange, but true.

It's pond-life taking to social media which cause the grief here.

The worst I've read about Kate and other royal women is here, on bloody MUMSNET!!

OhHelloMiss · 15/07/2024 16:27

How many 'funerals' has William pulled out of 40 mins beforehand?

OhHelloMiss · 15/07/2024 16:28

How do you know Camilla is on sun loungers when Charles has his chemo?? Where would you want her to be? Were you with her to know this with such certainty?

Crystallizedring · 15/07/2024 16:51

Catherine knew what she was signing up for. Part of the reason William waited so long to propose was because he wanted her to be sure she could cope with royal life.
If she decides she can't then I'm sure she'll do something about it.
I hope she recovers but other than the cancer I don't feel sorry for her.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 15/07/2024 17:01

But which bin would they go in?

We've got black bins, blue bins, brown bins, green bins, yellow bins, recyling bins, compost bins, food bins, Bin Laden (oh no that one's gone now) and wheres-u-bin?

OhHelloMiss · 15/07/2024 17:04

Yes - in terms of the job and the press intrusion (as I said upthread).

But most definitely not in terms of the hate campaign started by M & H and continued relentlessly by the SS. That's something no-one could have possibly anticipated. I feel very sorry for Catherine because of this, and William too.

She could never have imagined that family members, including the BIL to whom she'd once been so close, would turn on her, label her a racist on a global platform (which they later pathetically retracted - idiots) and then sit smugly by while their low-life attack dogs pursued her mercilessly, even when she was found to have cancer.

It's unprecedented in the RF and totally unacceptable - but only M & H and their minions have any power to do anything to stop it. I wonder why they don't?
