The Oscars were completely unwatchable

Did anyone else try and watch them last night? From the Jonathan Ross shambles to the awful Jimmy Kimmel making some offensive and unfunny remarks/pointed digs and seemingly slurring his words. Why is the Oscars still lauded as THE event in the film industry?

But they were always boring. That’s why people watch the red carpet in case there are weird outfits and then catch the doted highlights the day after.

I mean, they’re industry awards, rather than ‘entertainment’ in themselves.

Pretty much. Industry awards are only riveting if you're in that industry (and even then...)

The only reason these ones are televised is because they're full of celebrities. How many people are tuning in to hear about the best short documentary or best editing?
