To wonder how old is too old for a second baby?

Basically, couldn't afford two nursery fees. First child 16 months now.
I am 33 this year.
Will have to wait for him to start school before second child, but I do get worried about the "fertility falls off a cliff at 35."

We also don't own a home- does anyone have any tips on getting a mortgage/when to time it with a pregnancy? I know banks take into account childcare costs and will lend significantly less if fees to be paid.

I really wouldn't worry! You're still pretty young lol, I was just thinking I feel maybe too old at 40, but that's the tiredness probably!

My surprise 3rd baby arrived when I was 37. She’s an absolute joy - she’s 38 now with two children of her own. If yiu can I’d say go before 40 - menopause with teens a joy I found (not). But don’t worry

It’s up to the individual. And pure luck as to whether pregnancy / birth happens (whether with help or natural conception).

People have babies in their 40s!

DinoMummsy · 10/03/2024 20:39

Yanbu, I had babies at 37 and 39, took between 4-6 months to get pregnant each time. Good luck!

I don't think most people I know had had their first baby by your age! Surely you understand this is not old to have children?
I had mine at 39 and 42.

35 is quite young for even a first baby in the SE

RuthW · 10/03/2024 21:11

You have another ten years

fuckingbastard · 10/03/2024 21:32

It's up to you ?

dontbenastyhaveapasty · 10/03/2024 21:36

I was 34 when I had my first, and 43 when my surprise 3rd one came along! All conceived with great rapidity. I don’t think you have anything to worry about at just 33!

Matildahoney · 10/03/2024 21:37

I've just had my first at 41, we plan to have another in a year or so.
