Anyone else's little ones think it's their birthday today?

My DH left a card on the table before he went to work this morning with scribbles in from my 2.5 year old, and a happy Mother's Day message. I opened it with my little one this morning and she enthusiastically proclaimed "happy birthday mummy!" 😂🩷

Anyone else's little ones think it's their birthday today or just me? 😀

Haha my daughter does too! She's just turned 3 how old is yours?

Yes I've explained to her it's Mother's Day but she keeps referring to it as my birthday 😂

RedRobyn2021 · 10/03/2024 08:40

Sorry just saw she's 2.5

GRex · 10/03/2024 08:41

My DS proudly told me last night that he's going to make me a valentine's day cake and asked me how many candles to put on it. He was in sleepy chat mode where things tend to get a bit jumbled up.

ljs2024 · 10/03/2024 08:42

Haha glad it's not just me 😂
So adorable 🩷

Awwww too cute! I guess it’s the only reasonable thing in their wee minds to make a fuss over… so happy birthday it is! 🤣

HappierTimesAhead · 10/03/2024 08:46

My two are definitely confusing Mother's Day and my birthday too! My son (5) was so unbelievably excited to give me my card though and it was the first time that he'd been able to write properly and it has melted my heart.
(Then there was a big fight over croissants which ended up with me only getting half a croissant but we shall glos over that😂)

PurpleFlower1983 · 10/03/2024 08:46

My daughter has mentioned my birthday but since I’ve clarified it’s not it’s now ‘Motherstine’s Day’. 🤣

Awww, they are so adorable aren't they 😍

AliasGrape · 10/03/2024 08:52

My 3 year old knows it’s Mother’s Day but she has also told me ‘and tomorrow will be daddy’s day and then it’s HerName day and you can get me a special present!

Turning into my own mother telling her ‘every day is YourName day!’

jellyfishbubbles · 10/03/2024 08:52

Yes!

ljs2024 · 10/03/2024 09:01

@AliasGrape haha bless her 😂

@HappierTimesAhead
That's shocking. On Mother's Day you should be getting at least a full croissant 😤

Yep my 2.5 year old is alternating between happy Mother's Day and Happy Birthday Mummy, might all be a ruse though as they keep asking when we're having birthday cake lol

GregoryFluff · 10/03/2024 09:05

When I got home from the night shift I was met with DD practically throwing some chocolates at me and shouting Happy Valentine's Day Mummy

whitenoisemachine · 10/03/2024 09:15

Not today actually!

But all this week DH has been getting various packages delivered for work. Think 20+ large boxes. DD has been excited every day to wish DH a happy birthday 😂.

11NigelTufnel · 10/03/2024 09:20

No, but the youngest did give his dad a strong telling off when dp said that the kids bought me chocolates. No daddy, I didn't buy them, you did! He was most annoyed that dp was lying to me 😁.

FreckleHeckle · 10/03/2024 09:34

My 12 year old just said 'happy mothers Christmas' 😂

ljs2024 · 10/03/2024 09:50

@FreckleHeckle 😂😂 you win!

This reminds me of my cousin YEARS ago when she was about 3 or 4 (she's now a mum of 3 in her mid-30s!)

It was our mutual grandads funeral (I was about 8 at the time.) None of us grandkids went to the actual funeral service, but all went to the wake afterwards. There were photos of grandad up on all the walls, and at one point a cake was bought out for dessert.
Little cousin obviously put two and two together. The photos of grandad, the cake, the fact that we were all gathered "for a party", and JUST as our lovely granny was giving a little "thank you all so much for coming" speech, my cousin, at the top of her voice shouted, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDAD! BLOW THE CAKE!"

Bless her. She doesn't remember it, but "happy birthday grandad, blow the cake" has become a family catch-phrase!

That's gorgeous 💕

We went to M&S earlier to get bits for a picky tea. My 4 year old dd asked if we were getting a cake for Mother's Day, like a birthday cake. We did ending up getting some mini Colins for after dinner.

ganglion · 10/03/2024 19:30

My eldest thinks it's HER birthday and I am nothing 🤨 first year I've had a hug on Mother's Day (from my littlest) so I am happy.

BarbaricPeach · 10/03/2024 19:35

Yep, my 2.5 year old told me yesterday afternoon "we went to the shop and got a birthday card for mummy" 😂

WillYouPutYourCoatOn · 10/03/2024 19:35

DTwins (4) did not understand that the presents were from them, not for them, and merrily whipped them back and tore into them.

"It's a party day!"

Super, now if you could pass me the posh pie dish I've been coveting (thank you DH Grin ) that'd be swell.
