Just wondering if this announcement is helpful or just nagging that blends into the back ground. I still forget things on the train.🙄😂

In no particular order

YABU - it is a helpful reminder that has saved me

YANBU - it is noise and goes straight over my head.

I've never left anything on a train, but I don't think it 'goes over my head' either. I find train announcements quite annoying. Sometimes they really go on for a while, because they're doing the 'something suspicious' spiel and announcing that there is a shop where you can buy [list of things] and that you can upgrade. I just want to travel in quiet with only the occasional announcement that we will soon arrive at station X, which I do think is helpful.

I always leave my bag strap hanging over the edge of the rack. That way when I stand up it's at eye level.

My husband did leave a bag on a bus. After I had said "the black bag is ours too - can you grab it".
So one assumes he only heard the words "blah blah blah" rather than what I said 😂

I wish the train announcer had reminded people about their bags the time that I left all my John Lewis shopping on the overhead rack.

I have a terrible amount of form for leaving my bag on the train. I still shudder when I think about the time I left a bag with 60 handwritten student exam papers on the overhead shelf... And I have more than once come close and then been reminded in the nick of time by the announcement so yes, for me and other people as dim as me it is useful!

DH left his bag on a train - we had to go to a lost property office and search through, no exaggeration, about 700 bags to find it - it was a particularly generic black rucksack too. We did find it eventually.

I raised a smile when a train driver reminded people to take their belongings and then added 'that's especially relevant for HM Government employees'. It was just after a guy had left his laptop on a train and it was full of restricted info.

That gives me the horrors and I hold onto mine at all times!

@AnneElliott I remember one announcement where after the usual "don't forget your bags" there was an added "and your children".
Would love to know the back story about that one 😂
