Basically I purchased an item on my card and paid it in full. A tiny bit of interest was added £1.15 and I’ve had a letter today saying I’ve missed the payment. Letter didn’t arrive until 4 weeks after said missed payment and it will show as a default. I’m in a right state as we are about to get a mortgage and I’ve ruined us for £1. Tesco are showing no care and I’m guessing it will go on my credit report. Is there anything I can say to them to avoid the default please help! I wish I knew before the 14 days as I wouldn’t have got the default

Phone them up. If it is the first time they may wave the missed payment charge.

Even if they don't, one late payment on a credit card is not going to stop you gettng a mortgage.

This won't effect a mortgage at all. You're panicking for no reason. Phone them.

I used to work in this field, it depends on the date that you paid if it shows on your credit file, ring tesco and ask them to check.

I highly doubt this will get reported to credit reference agencies

I got a late charge once (not even my fault) and it was only £12. So don't worry too much. (Sorry but you not getting a letter will be insufficient reason to quash it)
