To think Twitter has suspended my account?

I’ve been a Twitter user for several years. I just tried to share a petition on Twitter and then was asked to log in again on Twitter.

Now, I can no longer access my Twitter account, as every time I try to log in, I get a message saying that something has gone wrong. Has anyone else ever had this before? It’s so strange.

I had it when someone hacked my account and changed the password.

Thanks for your reply, @Forhecksake . I don’t think I’ve been hacked or anything. I’ve been trying to work out how to get back into my account, but every time I try, I get a message saying that something has gone wrong and telling me to try again later. Any ideas on what I can do to get back into my account please? This has never happened before.

How long since you posted? Twitter/X was closing accounts that hadn't posted for a certain amount of time.

I post most days. I’ve just tried to recover access to my account by filling out a form online and have just had an email reply that Twitter cannot verify me as the account owner. I’m really confused about what to do now.

Just before I got locked out, I tried to change my display name on Twitter, so I wonder if it’s related to that. I wonder if Twitter now can’t verify me because my original display name is different to the one I tried to change it to.

Can anyone help or advise, please? I’m so confused about why I suddenly just can’t access my account at all.
