My son is in Year 7 and his secondary school are celebrating world book day with various activities including allowing the boys to dress up as a character from a book. To be honest, I always thought of this sort of thing (dressing up) as existing in primary school only. My son isn't that interested in dressing up but wants to wear a football strip (has lots of those football star books) and apparently this has been okayed by the school librarian. I think this is a bad idea as it may encourage the other boys to make jibes about football clubs etc.
I also just thought dressing up might also be a bit of a no no at that age with older boys taking the piss out of any year 7s choosing to dress up. Obviously I think the boys should be free to dress up if that is their choice but just wondering how this works in practice? Should I discourage my son from doing this? Hoping to hear from parents of older secondary boys. Thanks
