Lots of people have been talking about this series.

I stuck with it. I'm now broken inside.

I can't imagine recommending anyone watch this.

I managed just one episode and cut my losses

ChristianHornersGlisteningFinger · 05/03/2024 22:29

For a lot of people it is because they read the book and want to see how it translates to the screen. It was SO popular when it came out.

So they already know how it ends.

You totally missed the point then.

OneRingToRuleThemAll · 05/03/2024 22:30

I really enjoyed it. It's trashy waste an hour of lunch break TV, but I thought it was fab.

Wheresthescissors · 05/03/2024 22:31

It's not "trashy" tv surely? That would be CBB, or Love Island!

Yogatoga1 · 05/03/2024 22:32

I hated the book with a passion. Can’t even remember why now, but hated him, her, the whole pathetic will they won’t they crap.

Can’t think of anything worse than a film/tv series 😂

TraitorRoundTable · 05/03/2024 22:33

i’ve watched 4 or 5 and i’m totally underwhelmed, it’s crap.

toomanyleggings · 05/03/2024 22:34

I watched ten mins and it was too cringe for me.

AlisonDonut · 05/03/2024 22:34

It is absolute rubbish.

IwishIcouldfinishabook · 05/03/2024 22:35

Ì loved this so watched the film. Rubbish.

DrearyLane · 05/03/2024 22:36

I watched the whole series with DH and didn’t give away the ending. For this I deserve two medals, I think.

Timeandtidy · 05/03/2024 22:37

I couldn’t get past the first episode. Which was a shame as I wanted to like it.

Penguinmouse · 05/03/2024 22:38

Loved the book so much but found it just didn’t translate to screen (both tv show and the film from a few years ago).

WidmyBreadbin · 05/03/2024 22:38

That was my instinct @Sletty

I wish I'd listened to them. A book? That sounds even worse.

It's pretty trashy. I can't quite watch love island and that shite but like some trashy drama.

Well, it’s based on a hugely bestselling novel from 2009 with a well-known ending, AND which has previously been adapted into a film, so I don’t suppose anyone thinks it’s going to be a shock.

Station11 · 05/03/2024 22:41

I really like it. Maybe you’re too young. I love the fact I remember the music, the clubs and his I felt at the time.
If you don’t remember The Word’ you’re unlikely to get much out if a couple of episodes.
The characters are probably a couple of years older than me.

Justfivemoreminutesplease · 05/03/2024 22:48

I’ve just finished it but found it pretty crap at times. No way did those type of boys ever behave like that!
I haven’t seen the film or read the book but the scene that’s meant to be shocking was, I thought, completely predictable and far better done in Cold Feet.

orangeleopard · 05/03/2024 22:51

I haven’t watched the show, but I’m about 1/3 of the way through the book and it is fantastic. But I think the ‘trope’ of soulmates finding their way back to each other is my thing!

Rosestulips · 05/03/2024 22:53

My SIL recommended this to me. I hadn’t read the book or watched the film.

I lost my Dad recently and have just finished watching it after going back to work this week, the last episode was a difficult watch for me

NoisyDachshunddd · 05/03/2024 22:58

I'm from that very era and it didn't help me like the Netflix series. I managed half of one episode, clunky poor scripting and characters as wooden as a mahogany sideboard.

Me too! Awful book, totally overrated.

Mistyhill · 05/03/2024 23:01

I liked the book but got bored with the Netflix series. Just don’t have the patience for it. And I didn’t find it convincing on screen.

thedendrochronologist · 05/03/2024 23:02

It fine as far as lighthearted drama goes

Loved the music and fashion

Read the book watched the film to when they came out and agree it's all
Overrated tbh.

Shortkiwi · 05/03/2024 23:04

Watched it but thought it mostly dull, inauthentic and main characters miscast. Chemistry lacking. Liked the soundtrack though!
