To think bronchitis could still worsen on antibiotics?

On antibiotics, steroids etc for bronchitis. I was told it can easily turn to pneumonia, but I don’t know if this can happen even though you’re taking antibiotics. Does this definitely prevent it progressing? I still have a deep painful cough and now have developed pain in my upper left back after coughing. I presume sore muscles from intense bouts of coughing but keeping an eye.

Yes, if the chest infection is viral instead of bacterial, then antibiotics will do nothing except prevent an opportunistic bacterial infection on top.

Dd1 had pneumonia badly when she was 8yo. She started antibiotics and had got noticeably worse 24 hours later and they found that it was resistant to those antibiotics. She ended up on 3 different lots at the same time (one of which tasted absolutely foul) to make sure it was bopped on the head thoroughly.
