NHS PALS complaint.

Long story short, I had a diagnostic laparoscopy (suspected Endometriosis) in November ‘23. Didn’t receive any discharge summary or information. My consultant came to me as I was waking up in the recovery ward and said they found adhesions on my ovaries and that they would be sent off for biopsy. They also said they would see me in 8 weeks for a follow up.

My “follow up” appointment was scheduled for today as a telephone appt. Unfortunately I missed the phone call as they rang me half an hour earlier than the scheduled time (I was on the toilet, at work). They left a voicemail saying that they will write a letter to me and I will be discharged back to my GP.

I am none the wiser of what my results are and what the ovarian adhesions mean for me. (Obviously I have looked on Google). I have tried all morning and afternoon to contact my consultant, their secretary and the gynae clinic. My phone calls are not being answered and when I call switchboard at the main hospital the call is redirected and cut off.

Should I complain to PALS? I suffer everyday with symptoms that relate to Endometriosis (have done since I was 12, I’m 30 now) I have no answers and feel so fed up 😔 My GP is no help as all they can do for me is refer me to gynae, which they have done multiple times over the years.

YANBU. That’s really poor. A telephone appointment is just not good enough. I complained to PALS once and got a phone call back from the consultant the same day.
