Are late night football matches generally safe?

Big ones I mean, think championship/england games at Wembley or similar? Would involve tube travel to the stadium and it would be a Tuesday night game so wouldn't finish til around 10. Thinking of taking ds12 but a bit nervous going alone with him. Not sure why.

Yes absolutely fine especially the internationals.

That's good to know. Suppose it's just the travel at that time of night too.

It’s not like it’ll just be you. Just make sure your valuables - wallet, phone, etc. - are well protected. Inside pocket or one of those slim bags that can fit under your coat, then all will be well.

In the event that you are split up, make sure DS12 has your mobile number or his own phone, and knows who to speak to.

It can be absolutely chaotic getting away from Wembley after a match. Be prepared to queue for the train/tube/bus or to walk a distance away. And have a few options planned out as stations get closed at short notice. Not unsafe but keep your wits about you.
