I’m wondering if I’m hopelessly out of touch here. A shop has just opened in town, which in itself is great as we have too many empty units. It’s a place selling vapes and associated things. The window display has 5 or 6 large hookahs lined up… My problem is that they are all made from replica AK47s. I find this really shocking. I think I’m right in saying that this is the world’s deadliest gun? How can it be right to have a window display on a normal high street glorifying these weapons? I’m thinking I’m going to be walking past with my young kids on the way to the library or something, and they’ll spot them in the window and ask what they are… “oh yes, aren’t they pretty? (They’ve been nicely chromed with fancy gold plate) Beautiful machine guns designed to shoot constantly without stopping. How clever to turn it into a smoking thingy…” Well, clearly not, but what is the point of putting them in the window?
Somehow this has really upset me - I worked for a while for a humanitarian organisation so have seen first hand lives devastated by these guns. Just wanted to sense-check my reaction. Thanks for listening…
